You're ready to begin working with a clinician at Intermountain Counseling. We're excited to meet you! We know that taking the step into counseling can be intimidating, so we want to make the process as smooth and easy for you as we can.
SECOND Step - your free consultation
We want to respect your time, so your consultation will be no more than 30 minutes. We use this time to understand your needs for counseling and to determine whether we are the best fit for your needs. This time is also an opportunity to make sure that you feel comfortable with your clinician and counseling. If you have any questions, this is a wonderful time to ask them.
If you're wanting counseling for your child, this consultation is for the parents or guardians first, so you do not need to plan for your child to be present.
tHIRD Step - your INTAKE PAPERWORK AND SESSION
If you and your clinician feel the fit is good, you will be emailed a link to set up a profile with our client portal. We are a paperless practice, so you can complete your paperwork through the portal. *Please note, your paperwork MUST be completed prior to your first session. The client portal will also allow you to pay for sessions and store your payment information for your convenience.
At your intake session, your clinician will gather more information and create a plan with you to work towards your goals. We collaborate with you throughout counseling to make sure you feel therapy is targeting your problems.
The Counseling Process
The length of therapy depends on a number of variables. Every therapist has a slightly different process. We recommend at least eight consecutive weeks of therapy. This timeframe helps you and your therapist develop a therapeutic relationship that focuses on deep healing. Once the relationship has been established and progress is made, sessions can be moved to biweekly or, if you've resolved your significant struggles, can begin to move toward termination.
We are a private-pay counseling practice.
Insurance: We encourage you to check with your insurance if you have out-of-network benefits. If you do, after your payment, we will provide you with a superbill invoice that you can send to your insurance for reimbursement.

All our clients are important to us. We do our best to accommodate our clients and reserve session slots for that fit their schedule. When a client cancels, we offer that session time to other clients who need it.
Clients must cancel or reschedule more than 24 hours in advance so that we can offer the slot to someone else. Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged as a full session fee.
